MSSC STRUGGLE REPORT (서울, 南朝鮮, 5.10/11/12)

First of all last Sunday at least 21 migrant workers got the possibility to escape from Hwaseong detention center. Congratulations! Unfortunately four were caught short while later by the cops (the S. Korean bourgeoisie media about the issue: Korea Times, JoongAng Ilbo). We, Myeong-dong Sit-in Struggle Collective (MSSC), are preparing for a massive propaganda campaign in the areas where migrant workers are living and working, like Uijeongbu, Maseok or Ilsan. We prepared a propaganda paper in Korean to explain the reason why we are struggling. You can read this . But we’ve a language problem. Actually we’d to translate the paper in several languages, but until now we got only English, Bangla, Nepalese, Indonesian and Vietnamese. But we need Russian, Chinese (simplified, P.R. of China)), Mongolian, Burmese (Myanmar), Urdu (Pakistan)… If someone can help us, please call ETU-MB’s office 2285-6068 (mainly in the night, at least from 10 pm, someone is there). What else we did in the last days? On Tuesday we were invited in Korea University for the annual spring festival – these year under the motto of Migrant Workers Struggle Solidarity (Thanx a lot!!!). We prepared and offered delicious food from Bangladesh, but if Koreans have the possibility to choose between uncounted booths with local food and foreign… But anyway, the program and atmosphere there was really great and all together we’d a lot of fun. Perhaps you know “Every Monday’s Solidarity Concert” (see picture no 2) in Myeong-dong, only few meters away from our sit-in struggle place, initiated by Park Joon and supporting performed by many other comrades like Yeon Yeong-seok, Ji Min-joo, Eom Gwang-hyeon (天/地/人) etc. On Wednesday they made the same in Inha University in Incheon. Of course one representative of MSSC joined. Just an ace event! If you see the pictures, you’ll know the reason why! Ha, if there would be a possibility to celebrate the capitalism to death, we already would be the winner. And here one good news - in Ilsan/Pung-dong one first victory is made: because of the presence of media, especially TV, the city administration was forced to withdraw the gangsters, attacking the defenders of their homes (we already reported here). But we also have one bad news: Someone has stolen 우리의 오리동지! Yo, ya Bastard!! (남한의 브루주아 미디어 Korea Times, JoongAng Ilbo을 참고하시라~) 우리 명동농성팀은 의정부, 마석, 일산 등 이주노동자가 많이 일하고 있는 지역을 집중적으로 캠페인 할 준비를 하고 있습니다. 이미 한국어 버전으로 왜 우리가 이렇게 싸울 수 밖에 없는가를 설명하고 있는 선전물도 제작했습니다. 한번 읽어보시기 바랍니다. 하지만 여전히 언어가 큰 문제입니다. 몇 개 국어로 번역을 하기는 했지만 영어, 방글라데시어, 네팔어, 인도네시아어, 베트남어 버전뿐입니다. 러시아어, 중국어, 몽고어, 미얀마어, 우르두어(파키스탄어)가 필요합니다. 도움을 주실 분은 평등노조 이주지부 사무실 전화 2285-6068로 전화주시면 감사하겠습니다. (가능하면 밤 10시 이후에 전화를 주세요.) 지난 며칠 동안 있었던 일들을 말씀드리면, 화요일에는 고려대학교 축제에 갔었습니다. 올해는 “이주노동자 투쟁연대”라는 모토하에 진행이 되었습니다.(다시 한번 고려대학교 학생동지들에게 감사드립니다.) 우리는 맛있는 방글라데시 음식을 준비했습니다. 프로그램과 분위기는 정말 끝내줬구요, 모두가 신이 나서 놀았습니다. 매주 월요일마다 명동성당 앞에서 연대 콘서트를 여는, 여러분도 잘 아는, 박준, 연영석, 지민주, 엄광현(천지인)동지들이 인천 인하대에서 같은 콘서트를 열었습니다. 농성팀에서는 한명이 대표격으로 참석습니다. Just an ace event! (이게 뭔 말이여~) 또 하나 좋은 소식 - 미디어(특히 TV)의 위력으로, 정부가 용역깡패들을 현장에서 철수시켰다고 하는군요. 그러나 나쁜 소식 하나 - 누군가가 우리의 오리동지를 훔쳐갔어요~ (translated by 매닉/투쟁과 밥/감사합니다!!)
